Privacy Policy of the Global Nature Fund (GNF)

This privacy policy only applies to the internet presence of the Global Nature Fund (GNF). Links leading to other servers and websites may have different privacy policies.


At GNF we take the protection of your personal information very seriously and observe the provisions of the German Federal Data Protection Act (FDPA) and the German Telemedia Act (TMG).


Information on personal data


Security of personal information

Access to personal information is restricted to authorized employees within the GNF who require the information in each case. Furthermore, all employees of the GNF are legally bound to observe data secrecy in accordance with Section 5 of the FDPA and also receive regular training in this regard.


Transmission of personal information

When transmitting personal information, the GNF uses secure communication channels, corresponding to the latest state of technology. Personal information transmitted, particularly bank details, are encrypted which means that data cannot be viewed or changed on the way from your computer to our servers.  Encryption is carried out in accordance with the security standard SSL (= Secure Socket Layer). Secure transmission can be recognized by the padlock icon which appears in the status bar at the bottom of the page in your browser. In addition, the address of the corresponding website begins with https:// instead of http://.


Collection, storage and use of personal information

The collection of personal information only occurs when you enter details in the corresponding form. Personal information will only be saved and processed for the purposes you have indicated. Personal information will only be saved for as long as it is absolutely necessary.


Passing on personal information

The GNF will use the information solely for internal purposes, e.g. for cooperating with project partners. The GNF will, of course, not pass on or sell personal information to third parties.


Service providers

Contractual regulations have been made with all service providers who work together with the GNF in accordance with Section 11 of the FDPA. In particular, this means that all service providers are bound to only handle your personal information in accordance with the instructions of the GNF and delete information which is no longer required.


General technical information



Information is saved in a log record each time a user accesses a website from the internet offer of Global Nature Fund and each time a file is retrieved. Depending on the access protocol used, the log record contains details with the following content:

  • browser type/ version, operating system used,
  • referrer URL (the page previously visited),
  • host name of the accessing computer (IP address),
  • date and time of the server request.


There is no possibility of linking IP addresses and personal information to each other that means that user profiles are not created. The information saved is used solely for the purpose of identifying and tracking illegal attempts to access the web server and also for statistical evaluations such as visitor numbers and homepage popularity and will be deleted after 48 hours at the latest. These evaluations are only carried out by authorised employees of GNF.


Use of cookies

Cookies serve as a way of interaction between your user data and our server to enable convenient use of our internet content. They do not contain any type of personal information and lose their relevance when exiting our website. Cookies on your hard disk can then be deleted. You can also decline the acceptance of a cookie, but some functions on the website may, therefore, no longer work, as they require cookies.
