Global Nature Fund – Newsletter

Issue: October 2019

Dear Readers,

Summer time is travel time, foreign countries and distant destinations lure you to spend the most beautiful time of the year relaxing. To ensure that rising tourism has as little negative impact as possible on biodiversity at the destination, the Global Nature Fund has been working for several years to ensure that, for example, natural resources are consciously taken into account at campsites in Europe, in hotel resorts in Latin America and the Caribbean and in the hotel and catering industry in Germany.

We take you with us to Honduras and Santo Domingo, where the reports by Marion Hammerl and Thomas Schaefer in the context of our project impressively describe the steps taken by hoteliers to promote sustainable travel offers despite local problems such as rubbish and untreated wastewater.

Biodiversity in Banana and Pineapple Production in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic

An open Letter to Greta Thunberg

The increasing criticism of Greta Thunberg worries me more and more. As a rule, it is not a matter of criticizing her statements or her actions, but rather of trying to discredit her person by postulating a false moral impetus.
