Global Nature Fund (GNF)

 

The Global Nature Fund is an international non-governmental, non-profit organisation based in Germany. In 1998 GNF established the international lake partnership Living Lakes with the aim to protect lakes and wetlands worldwide and to further sustainable development in these areas. The network comprises today more than 100 organisations working in 46 countries and protecting more than 90 lakes and wetlands around the world. The Global Nature Fund has initiated various education programmes and works in partnership with other organisations helping them develop environmental education programmes for schools and for general public. In the project, GNF plays the role of project coordinator. Acting also as one of regular partners it organises the working meeting and arranges study visits to the partner organisations' educational activities addressed to general public in Germany.

Stowarzyszenie Ekologiczne "Etna" (SE "Etna")

 

Stowarzyszenie Ekologiczne "Etna" (the Environmental Association "Etna") is a small polish NGO specializing in nature conservation, environmental education and social assistance related to environmental issues. The SE "Etna" acted as a partner in international workshops such as sustainable development in lake areas, where it was a local partner hosting the workshop group in Poland. It also hosted the Leonardo da Vinci Mobility group of UK project EuCAN assisting the English partner organisation by providing some of the training and organising the two-week workshop. Etna organises public educational events using different approaches - lectures, guided tours, competitions, and those using arts. Some of the staff and leaders of Etna has been experienced in international and educational work for up to 20 years. In the Grundtvig partnership SE "Etna" is one of the partners. Etna is a member of the 3-sectoral partnership for the Barycz Valley. It possesses lots of experience in mobilisation of public for practical work for nature (habitat management), and training for nature lovers. In the project, the organisation arranges that the local partner organisations from Barycz Valley present their experience in creating educational infrastructure, educational field games, internet-based education, organising public events, publications, use of regional branding and other educational fields.

Ayuntamiento de Villacañas

 

Ayuntamiento de Villacañas (the City Council of Villacañas) invests in environmental education and protection. It organises Local Education Board meets monthly to discuss various topics of education. The Board members represent all agencies and associations whose aim is education. In 2010 all activities focused on environment. Every year an Enviromental Education Program is being arranged by the City Council, addressing issues such as waste, energy, water, and biodiversity. The municipality owns a wetlands complex. Preservation and dissemination of these natural areas are carried out. Additionally, the City Council is involved in various Regional Programs such as Green Homes (working on energyefficiency) or Eco-Schools. The municipality receives funds from private companies such as UNILEVER for the management and conservation of three wetlands in this municipality. Aside from the usual tasks of cleaning and restoring wetland perimeters and developingenvironmental education activities for students, the City Council promotes Good Nature-Tourism Practices, facilities for Ornithological Tourism, together with the LEADER Local Action Group. The material is designed for tourists visiting the wetlands with an outstanding ecological attraction i.e. its birds. Every year hundred specimens of autochthonous species such as tamarind (Tamarix gallica) are planted with the help of 40 workers, volunteers, students. In the Grundtvig partnership, the Municipality will be one of the equal partners and will present the teaching centre on environmentally friendly energy, mobilising public to work for environment, infrastructure for bird watchers. Its partners will present their educational programmes for farmers, bird watchers.
