At the regional level, small and medium-sized enterprises are particularly vital for biodiversity conservation, because they have high economic and emotional ties to their place of location. With the establishment of Regional Biodiversity Forums a variety of tangible and feasible activities, such as greening of company premises and “Landscape Auctions”, will be promoted among SMEs business leaders.At least 6 such forums will be initiated in the context of the campaign in the Netherlands, Spain and Germany starting from the second half of 2010.
Goal:
Dissemination of information on the importance of biodiversity on a regional level and on regional options for companies to contribute to the protection of biodiversity.
Target group:
Small and medium-sized companies, regional chambers of commerce, chamber of crafts, business associations, Rotary, Lions, NGOs and environmental authorities
Overview of the activities:
- Identify biodiversity advocates at the regional level
- Conduction of six regional B&B forums
- Seminars for interested companies including biodiversity check
- Realization of six Biodiversity Auctions
- Assist companies in ecological greening of their premises and industrial areas a first step into a more complex biodiversity management
