Good news from the Indonesian Mahakam Wetlands!
In March 2009, committed helpers liberated two Irrawaddy Dolphins, a mother and her calf, stuck in a swamp, in a spectacular rescue operation, conducted by the local GNF partner and involving about 200 inhabitants.
In order to carry out similar operations more rapidly in the future, a monitoring patrol shall be established to detect dangers for the rare Irrawaddy Dolphin at an early stage facilitating prompt action.
