Planning and implementating wind park farms is the objective of the enterprise wpd, which is active in the field of energy generation through renewable energy sources.
As a voluntary CO2 reduction measure, wpd supports projects of the Global Nature Fund and its partner organisation in Sri Lanka. At the lakes Madampe and Maduganga, areas are bought, in order to establish conservation areas. In the long run retreat areas for for flora and fauna shall be created. Additionally, the intact wetlands and mangrove areas are important carbon sinks.
