Fondation Yves Rocher - Trophée de femmes

The environmental foundation “Fondation Yves Rocher” of the cosmetic manufacturers Yves Rocher recognizes with its environmental prize “Trophée de femmes“ the voluntary commitment of women to preserve and protect the environment. Created in 2000, the prize is awarded yearly, meanwhile in nine European countries as well as in Russia and Canada.

The foundation Fondation Yves Rocher, under the aegis of the Institute de France, provides financial support to numerous environmental projects. A jury composed of members of the foundation as well as representatives of the magazines “Für Sie” and “natur+kosmos” selects women who have initiated or currently lead environmental projects, who motivate people to become interested in the protection of the environment and conservation or are actively involved in biodiversity protection. Important criteria are environmental education and sustainability of the projects as well as a commitment at national or international level.

On February 15, 2008 Marion Hammerl, President of Global Nature Fund, has won the national Yves Rocher environmental prize for her honorary work for the protection of lakes and wetlands worldwide in Stuttgart. On March 7, 2008 Marion Hammerl was awarded the international environmental prize in Paris.

The prize money will be spent for projects in the Mahakam Wetlands in Indonesia, at the Indian Lake Pulicat, at the African Victoria Lake as well as for the reforestation of mangrove forests in Sri Lanka.
