New livelihoods – Organic farming

As regards setting up of organic farms, EMACE has identified some farmers presently engaged in farming activities in the Bandaragama area in the South Bolgoda lake area, who appeared to be potential organic farmers who could come under the project. Also in this regard we have identified a piece of land where a model farm in organic farming is to be established. The model farm will be used for demonstrations in the making and utilization of compost manure, training the farmers etc. The services of experts in organic farming from the Rural Agro-services Centre situated in Peradeniya, near Kandy, are also planned.
