GNF received distinction again for the years 2008 and 2009

On 18 October 2007, the Global Nature Fund was awarded again as UN Decade Project. With its global lakes network Living Lakes, GNF has received for the second time the distinction as official UN Decade Project for the years 2008 and 2009.

On 27 November 2007, the conferment of the title took place in the Liederhalle in Stuttgart. Udo Gattenlöhner, Executive Director of GNF, followed the invitation of Günther Oettinger, Prime Minister of Baden-Wuerttemberg, and gladly accepted the official distinction.

On 13 October 2005 the Living Lakes project was designated as official Decade Project of the UN Decade "Education for Sustainable Development" 2005 - 2014. Decade Projects are initiatives closely related to Education for Sustainable Development that demonstrate good practice, generate ideas and contribute to policy development.

The global vision of the World Decade "Education for Sustainable Development" of the United Nations is to provide all people educational opportunities to acquire knowledge, values and life skills which are necessary for a better future and indispensable for positive social changes.

On 14 November 2005, in the frame of the Second Round Table of the UN Decade in Erfurt, GNF had received for the first time the official designation for the years 2006 and 2007. GNF was awarded the title Official UN Decade Project for its international Living Lakes network in the scope of which joint projects with its partner organisations are carried out according to social, ecological and commercial criteria.
