Deutscher Naturschutzring (DNR) is the umbrella organisation of German nature conservation and environmental NGOs. In 1950 the German League for Nature Conservation and Environmental Protection started with 15 member organisations, today 94 organisations are part of the DNR, also the Global Nature Fund.
The DNR goals and focal points are as follows:
- The conservation of the bio-diversity.
- The protection, restoration and improvement of the ecological balance and all its components.
- The prevention of nature and environment destruction.
- The promotion of sustainable and environmentally sound private and public business practices and activities and their application.
- The presentation of models, approaches and solutions for sustainable ways of living and economy, and support the of their implementation, especially in the industrial countries.
