The campaign has a duration of three years and started on January 1, 2010. It is coordinated by the Global Nature Fund with companies that integrate biodiversity in their business strategies and advocate for its preservation.

Threatened Lake of the Year

Lake Titicaca is "Threatened Lake of the Year 2012"

In the occasion of the World Wetland Day on 2nd February, the Global Nature Fund nominates since 2004 each year one lake or wetland as “Threatened Lake of the Year”, in order to refer worldwide to the problems and protection measures in the particular lake or wetland area.

“Project of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005 – 2014”

In November 2011, the project “Living Lakes” has received for the fourth time the distinction as official UN Decade Project for the years 2012 and 2013. The first distinction occured for the years 2006 and 2007, the second for the years 2008 and 2009 and third for the years 2010 and 2011.
