Apart from the lake network "Living Lakes", "Protection and environmentally sound development of old cultural landscapes" is a further important project of the Global Nature Fund. The preservation of traditional forms of industries, such as pastoral nomadism (transhumanz) or the use of the fruits of oak woods for pig farms, also benefits the environment. These kinds of cultural landscapes are diminishing in Europe and all over the world.
