Since its creation in 1998, the Global Nature Fund has been seeking alliances with partners concretely supporting its project work .The donors substantially support conrete projects of GNF and its partners in situ, that pursue careful and considerate use of natural resources as well as the development of alternative income sources. And it is not only businesses and foundations supporting GNF's work, the German Federal Foundation for Environment (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt DBU), the Ministry of Environment (BMU) as well as the Federal Nature Conservation Agency (Bundesamt für Naturschutz BfN) and the European Union (EU) support the various project activities worldwide. And Global Nature Fund has even expanded its contacts at regional level, e.g. to the City of Friedrichshafen at Lake Constance.
Since the launch of the network Living Lakes in 1998, the Deutsche Lufthansa AG has supported this global network. And since 1998, the Daimler AG has also provided financial support to concrete projects in the frame of the international network Living Lakes for the protection of lakes and wetlands. The Sika AG, headquartered in Switzerland, is a company producing processing materials and is supporting concrete projects within the scope of the network Living Lakes since 2005. Since 2007, the enterprise Osram has been a partner of GNF at Lake Victoria and advocates increased use of solar lamps. In December 2008, a co-operation with the enterprise Reckitt Benckiser started in the domain of lake protection with focus on the regional network Living Lakes Germany.
The enterprise Ziemann (brewage technologies) is another company supporting the Global Nature Fund and its projects since 2002. Since summer 2008, the fashion retailer C&A has furthered the network Living Lakes. In the area of communication, Global Nature Fund received donations from Telekom. The enterprise Dicota supports the GNF and its partners in Sri Lanka in the domain of mangrove swamp reforestation.
In 2009, the GNF started together with TUI AG, the German Bundesliga team Hannover 96 and the fan umbrella association „Rote Kurve“ the campaign “Drinking cups for drinking water”. The donations were used for drinking water projects in Kenya. The enterprise Rapunzel Naturkost AG has supported various projects of GNF since 2008, with funds from the HAND-IN-HAND Fund of the enterprise. Since summer 2009, the wind power enterprise wpd has supported GNF and its partners in Sri Lanka to purchase nature cosnervation areas. Since July 2010, the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) supports the project “Mangrove Swamp Restoration in Sri Lanka”.
From the banking sector, the EthikBank, the GLS-Gemeinschaftsbank as well as the HypoVereinsbank are supporters of GNF. Since 2002, the EthikBank has funded the project “Protection of the Baikal Seal” at Lake Baikal in Russia. For many years, the GLS-Gemeinschaftsbank has supported the projects of GNF by donating the income of interest out of the so called “Living Lakes project saving” initiative. The HypoVereinsbank furthers the work of GNF by its donations for Christmas to the benefit of the network Living Lakes.
